Student Life

Residence Halls

All students live in one of the 60 dorm rooms on campus. Most students share a
room. Each room is equipped with a telephone and computer/network access for personal computers. The dormitory includes a student lounge with game room, recreation area, and snack bar.

Dining Services

Students do not have to go off campus for meals. The dining hall provides three nutritious meals per day, included in the room and board charge.

Health Services

A physical examination is required before admission, and student health records are kept on file. The College infirmary is staffed and equipped to treat minor injuries and illnesses, with physicians and full medical facilities only 20 minutes away. Red Cross First Aid and CPR courses are offered periodically.

Athletic Facilities

The College has a large gymnasium, a full-size indoor swimming pool, a newly renovated weightlifting room, an outdoor tennis court and a soccer field.

F.A.N. Club

The Divine Word College F.A.N. Club is an acronym for "Friends Across Nations." The organization matches students with area families as a means of establishing off-campus social connections. Some on-campus events are scheduled, but most activities are left to the desires and interests of the individual student and host family. Participation is voluntary.

Carol and Dennis Powers have been a F.A.N. Club family for several years. Here's what they have to say about the experience:

This photo was taken on Saturday, May 14th at the DWC graduation. I wanted to show you this photo because it includes Dennis and I, our two graduates for this year from DWC, and also two of our previous students from DWC. All four of those students were introduced to us through the F.A.N. Club. We still keep in contact with Nhat Le and Ha Dang.

And we hope to remain close to Thang Cao and Huynh Pham. Nhat and Ha will be ordained Priests on May 21, 2005 in Chicago. We witnessed them becoming deacons in November 2004. Thang and Huynh are entering the Novitiate program over in Chicago. Dennis and I have been blessed by becoming these young men’s F.A.N. Club parents. We have enjoyed them in our lives. We now are so proud and happy for them. Thank you for helping us with this opportunity to meet them.

We had thought about taking a break from the F.A. N. Club, but Thang told us that he has two friends that he wants us to have with the F.A.N. Club. We met on of them during the graduation festivities.

Have a great summer! We are going to be busy. Next Saturday we will go to Chicago for Nhat & Ha’s ordination. It will be another great weekend as we will get to see all four of our boys again. I just love them all!

Thanks for all you do.

Dennis and Carol Powers
