Education! Exercise! Opportunity!

Divine Word College 2006 Annual Appeal
There are hundreds of Catholic colleges in the United States, but only one in the entire country is dedicated to preparing young men for missionary service
– Divine Word College in Epworth, Iowa!
Divine Word College educates future missionaries. We have reached out across our nation and beyond to invite young men who are willing to consider a life of poverty, chastity, and obedience – to dedicate themselves to a lifetime of service to others.
An education at Divine Word College, both in and out of the classroom, prepares students for their futures as missionary priests and Brothers. Students integrate classroom study and life experiences gained through apostolic ministry to area churches, our area’s handicapped population, and for those in long term care.
Through our Annual Appeals, we seek to improve the quality of education and student life that our seminarians receive. This year our focus is the enhancement of the mind and body of our students through:
1. Upgrading our English as a Second Language (ESL) lab. The lab is the center for ESL tutoring, reading and distribution of learning resources for our students who need to improve their English skills.
2. Resurfacing the tennis courts which were originally installed in the 1960s. We believe that for our students to be successful, they need to live a healthy lifestyle. Regular exercise is essential for a healthy lifestyle.
3. The third focus is a new scholarship program for refugee students. The Arnoldus Scholarship for Refugees is designed to enable young men from refugee backgrounds to obtain a college degree.
We are truly excited about these improvements—suggested by our faculty and students—we hope you will be too.
Our goal for this year’s appeal is $80,000. With your support we will reach our goal and continue our mission of educating young men for missionary service throughout the world.
