The Best of Times: a celebration by Carmelle Zserdin
February 21 - March 28, 2007

The show is about celebration - a celebration of Zserdin's personal journey and a celebration of jubilee. The past year was a year of jubilee for the artist, a fruitful time of recollection, assessment, gratitude and anticipation.
The exhibit will include tiles, and thrown and hand built vessels. Clay forms and surfaces serve as symbol and metaphor for reflection and revelation. Zserdin has spent so much time with her hands in clay that she believes clay forms and techniques can reveal her thoughts and intentions better than words.

Kahurangi
7 p.m. Friday, April 27, 2007

Kahurangi, which means “cloak from heaven,” is the only professional full-time Maori dance troupe from New Zealand to maintain a consistent presence in North America for the past 13 years. Since 1985, Kahurangi has given more than 2,000 performances throughout the world.
Kahurangi brings to life the “ihi” or life force of the Maori through the songs and dances that are part of the history and fabric of Maori life. The performances bridge the past and the present with genealogical chants, martial arts techniques, powerful songs and pride in being Maori. The performance imparts a wealth of cultural and tribal knowledge and fosters a greater understanding of this unique and exciting indigenous culture.
